100 years anniversary since 1909 Dr. Soulavy - the pioneer of tourism development of Kastela Riviera.
In 1908 Czech doctor Henrik Soulavy arrived to Split and Kastela. He was amazed by the beauty of Kastela bay and little town Kastel Luksic. At that time Dr. Soulavy was working as a doctor in Kaštel Luksic. In summer 1908 his family came to visit him and then he present them his idea to open the first pension in Kastela Riviera. The family supported his idea to start something new, tourism. His friends helped him to get the bank loan from the Czech bank and he bought the building from Ambrozini family.
Based on the preserved guest book we can state that the guests of the pension were well educated and respected people, such as doctors, senators, bankers, lawyers, consuls, pastors and few ministers. The guests were staying in the pension mostly for 15 days to a month, but sometimes even for a few months. Dr. Šoulavy was trying to expand his tremendous emotions about Kaštela region. The two beautiful brochures are preserved and are presenting the pansion from that time. |
